Hello I am a new member to the group. I have had my first cockatiel for awhile, been told it was a boy, we then named him Buddy he talks & whisles. Then few months down the road I was considering on getting a girl for him. So I end up finding another on kijiji and was told it was a girl, so I then payed for her & named her lyla she squawks and mumbles when she talks. So I kept both cages side by side, so they get to know eachother. So when I started letting them out for while everyday. lyla started following buddy around the cages non stop & buddy would peck at her, then it turn into a fight.So now she has became more aggressive towards buddy & I. Every time I would go up to talk to Lyla, she would fly at me aggressively to bite & fly back to cage & would do it repeatedly if I shown attention to her. She did not have this behavior in the beginning. She would always come on me and sit & snuggle & not bite. So I need some advice to why this may be happening ? Or is Lyla a boy & Buddy a girl or is it 2 boys ? Lyla is in the far back Buddy in the front

The grey one is definitely a boy! The pied one I'm not sure from the looks upfront. How is Lyla flying to you aggressively if you don't mind to elaborate. It might be wise for you to train her alone away from Buddy in a different room.

Girls can be sassy like the boys can. Please do think about taking Lyla into a different room to train. Clip her if you must if the fly attack doesn't stop.

OK I will do that for sure. Guess I should say he, he was very friendly tell I interdused him to Buddy. Wish I new the others sex lol

OK I put them in sepret rooms, I have held Lyla the boy, and he didn't do the fly attack with me. So now there just calling out to each other loudly. More answers from others,with Lylas odd behavior would be much appreciated

I think time apart is good - once they are used to being apart and calling out to one another (I would give it a week or two) try to slowly reintroduce them by moving cages not totally together but within eyesight. Then, after some days, move cages close enough where they can't get to one another. Take them out separately for some time as well, don't let them play together for a good while. Then, I would (this has been some weeks by now) allow them a few minutes at a time together tops. It may take months this way but chances are they could become friends.

I've had birds who never could be together but others this system worked well for.

Which one is Lyla? The grey or the pied?

Lyla is the grey, but I named her Chomper �� a boys name lol

Ok Lyla now Chomper is definitely a boy! When Peaches, a boy, who was returned to me a year later started doing the same thing yours is until he came back to me and I retrained him completely. They can go through that stage where they become little terrorist. I clipped his wings and trained him alone one on one. He's a good boy now!

Oh nice glad you have your bird taimed. Chomper is good , only when he's away from Buddy. I think the fly attack is over jealousy, is when he seems to do it. Have to get my Dad over to clip his wings. Then I think it will work with them in the same room
