Another bird lover...

Hello!

I am obviously new to the forum... Not new in having a bird, but fairly new in having an indoor bird. To explain, I am a registered falconer with a female red-tailed hawk that I have had for almost two years. I can pretty much do anything with her (kiss her on the head, give her a bath, take her free flying in the rain, etc).

I just recently rescued my little lovely female blue fronted amazon and she is amazing. I do not have much history on her, but I am so excited to learn what she knows and be able to teach her new things. She is roughly 14 (from what I am told), but is adapting extremely well. I did visit her multiple times before bringing her home. I am improving her diet from only being fed mostly a seed based diet so she is quite chunky. I'm hoping she will be fully adapted in a few weeks to a month at this rate.

First off welcome to the forum.... And Hurray hurray...for falcons and hawks !!!
I have raised a red-tailed too, as well as a sharp-shined and northern harrier. They are such fun and many people do not realize the intelligent level of hawks. God they are smart.

Also have 2 Blue fronted Amazons....My ladys, and best birds you could ask for, and have a Grey and Senegal and red factor canary.... All red.

The Blue fronted will eat just about any type of veggie and fruit...though veggies mine prefers them cooked...( Hey chef my food isn't cooked you cook it right yeah?) LOL

I don't feed mine pellets but once a week, a small amount of seeds daily rest is grains, fruit, chop, beans, veggies...they are healthy as ox's now.

Lot's of advice , knowledgeable bird owners, and friendly people from all over on this parrot site....Sooooo kick yer shoe's off, relax and enjoy, you'll like it here.
