African gray, 'Toby'.
RIP Max and Bugsie (white capped pionus).
Hi, my name is Don; Toby is my congo gray, Max is a white cap pionus. We've been together 25 and 23 years respectively, so there are probably many years to come. I currently live in northern NJ but will soon be moving to Florida. Toby and max live in side by side pet cages, with drawbridge style doors that they use to sit on like a porch. The cages are standard cat/small animal ones with 1" bar spacing, which are about 4 feet high, by three feet wide and two feet deep, which leaves plenty of room for hanging toys and perches. The cages sit on top of a metro shelving rack that is 6 feet long x 2 feet deep, and 2 feet high, with a lexan sheet top that overhangs the sides by 4 inches outward in every direction (where I keep their toys and food stored). Their diet consists of whatever I'm eating during meals, but I toss away anything they don't finish because I don't want rotten food in the bowls. Daytime snacks I leave in the bowls are lafebres nutriberries of one sort or another, and I'll toss in bits of whatever fruit I eat. When I go to sleep, I leave dry pellet foods in the bowls so they always have something to munch on. Water gets some Lafebre's powder vitamin in it. Both birds have been perfectly healthy since weaning with the exception of Toby having one episode of bronchitis the first year. Their cages both sit by the front windows so they can talk with the people outside. I will add more onto my profile later.
