Hi, I'm Jay.

My family just acquired a Double Yellow Headed Amazon about a month ago. After getting used to our home we decided it'd be a good time to start training. His name is Sweetpea and he's four years old. He'll be five on October 12th!

We are new to birds (and pets in general), so I'm looking for a place that'll help us out and share the experience as well. I don't doubt that this will be a great place to start our relationship with Sweetpea.

Hi, Cass. Thanks for the welcome. I just took this photo of Sweetpea for you and anyone else interested in meeting him.

(Edit: LOL! I just realized that it looks like he's chained up in this photo. He isn't. He loves playing with the bells on his cage, so we decided to get one for his perch, too.)

Thank you, parrotqueen. I'm glad that there is help here. LOL! That's pretty much why I'm here (as well as getting to know other bird enthusiasts). Sweetpea can be a handful since he isn't trained. I've been googling all sorts of things, but there is nothing like being able to ask questions and seeing that someone else may have had the same problem with their bird. I don't feel like he's terrible or anything anymore! LOL.
