Green Cheek Conure - Age 10
Hey, everybody! My name is Eden and I currently own a Green Cheek Conure. His name is Burgundy and he is 10 years old. I got him when I was nine. We call him Cheepy.

He's a pretty feisty little guy but I love him. Unfortunately, I went through a phase (as every teenager does) of laziness and my conure's behavior was most definitely affected by it. However, I'm doing my very best to mend this and Burgundy is doing pretty well now. Still a bit nippy but he's always been that way.

He was hand fed and raised at Canoga Discount Birds (I highly recommend this shop) and I'm trying to get him on a healthier diet but he's stubborn and picky. Any tips on making a smooth transition to a pellet based diet?

My boyfriend is thinking about getting a beautiful female Indian Ringneck. She's about five months old. I'd like to introduce her to Burgundy but it makes us nervous knowing his personality. Should I just avoid it all together or is there a hidden strategy when it comes to introducing parrots?

Anyway, I am super happy to have found this forum and look forward to meeting some fellow parrot lovers!

Best,
- Eden

What a cutie. :) Welcome to the forum. I unfortunately don't know how to answer your question, but I'm sure someone who does will come by soon. I would assume the only "hidden strategy" would be to take it slow. Let the birds get used to each other from different cages before ever being allowed out together and always under supervision. Because of the size difference between the two birds the gcc could be hurt.

Hello & welcome Eden and Burgundy! He is adorable! I have a Crimson bellied conure and he is quite feisty as well.
Here is a great link for converting him to a healthier diet:

As far as the IRN and Burgundy getting along, I would be very careful because of the size difference. My conure hates my IRN, and they are never allowed to be together. My friend's IRN and conure get along just fine though after they got to know each other. They are still in separate cages and only allowed together with close supervision.
I also agree with Ann's suggestions for the introduction.
