Hey there all.
Im red and I am the proud new parent of Skippah, the 10 week old (Non hand tamed) Little Corella. Thats we call it in OZ. In the USA it may be called something else.
Where are most of the forums members from?
Me and Skippah are from Adelaide, Oztralia.
Its Xmas eve and my wife just presented me with this young fella (we think its a fella).
I am going to need all the help I can get so expect to hear from me often.
I hope to do everything right for this bird to make sure I can justify keeping him in captivity.
Thanx in advance....

One thing, Be carefull about how much time you spend right off the bat with your new fid. If you spend two weeks hanging out with him and then head off to work for 8 hours a day, he may stress out.

Just a thought.

I did think of that, but our house is well travelled by my son and grandson and daughter in law and Wife. So I am hoping the frequent traffic and interaction will make him a more social and family oriented bird. No point me being the only one who can get near him,...then how would Debbie clean out his cage for me?

You really have to think these things out man, or you will end up doing yucky work at home in your own time,.....thats why we have wives and children, and grandchildren, and in laws. Not all aussies are as lazy as me,.... but they are sure trying hard to keep up.

Its not so much that im lazy. Its more Deb is a clean freak, so any mess left to come to a standstill under its own steam is automaticly taken care of by Deb the cleaning machine.
I am not complaining.
This bird seems to think all the good seed is on the bottom of feed tray, coz he spreads the top 2 thirds of it all over the room. I swear he is spitting seed over the other side of the room when Im not watching. How else could he get it so far away from his cage? Messy bird, but a huge personality to be coaxed out of him. I'm sure of it.

Have to admit, I'm a bit of a clean freak myself, drives my hubby MAD :D

Its amazing how far these birds can get their food, Buccs favourite game is to spit it so it lands on the wall opposite of his cage. :D Its taken him 2 years to get it that far. :07: :07:

Seems its taken this guy 24 hours to gnaw thru a 3/4 inch dowel perch.
It was the one high in the top where I couldn't get to him.Talk about burning his bridges.
Is there any such thing as a stainless steel perch that still has grip for him?
if not, it looks I have entered the woodchipping industry by accident.
I could sell wood shavings by the bagful from the bottom of his cage.

With the progress that he's making maybe its a good thing. There are a lot of different perches out there apart from wood. Don't think your gonna have a lot of luck getting stainless steel though :D
