Hello all :) I've been stalking the forum for a week or so now and finally decided to join. I've had 3 Tiels for the past 4 or 5 years now, sweet little birds. I happened across a Craigslist ad for a Sun Conure so started looking up more info on them. I should be bringing him home this week. While waiting, I have a 12x12 room off our living room that will be set up as a bird room with lots of perches and toys.

Awesome community you all have here :)

Welcome to the forums! Congrats in advance, a sun conure will be a nice addition to your sweet flock. We'd love to see photos if you'd like to share.

Thanks Allee. Oddly, I don't have any pics of my Tiels, a bunch of my Min Pin but not one of the Tiels. I'll have to get some this week. Cheerful guys they are, always whistling and making some kind of noises. Gets pretty loud when they get going lol. I have one that says a few words but he's shy about it. He'll wait till I'm outside then start talking, I can hear him through the screen. As soon as I come in he stops and looks at me like...wasn't me...lol.
The new Conure should be a good fit with them, maybe they will all learn from each other. He's just over a year old, from what I'm told. I thought his name was odd, Zazu, then I seen someone here also has that name lol.

Thanks everyone. Stalker...lol..no more, I finally walked in :D
Not sure where they got the name Zazu from, I don't believe I've seen the Lion King so it could be. Not my kind of movie :) Thought a bit about changing his name but figured he's already just over a year old so he's used to it. I'll keep it as is. I don't mind them getting loud, I know they're goofin off so it's all good. No louder than what it was with kids in the house lol.

Hey there, fellow New Yorker! Oneida County here!
Welcome to the forums!

I have a female tiel, and she sure is something :yellow1:
I also have two conures, but they're green cheeks, not suns. Suns are a bit too loud for me!
Oddly enough, my budgies are regularly the loudest of the flock.

I will say that my conures and tiel get along beautifully. The tiel thinks she's one of them, and has learned to eat with her feet as a result. Always funny to watch them interact!

I'd also really love to see pictures of your cockatiels, and of that beautiful sun conure if you decide to bring him home! One of my conures is a rescue. I can tell you that you are in for a really exciting adventure. Earning the trust of a rehomed parrot is such a wonderful experience.

Thanks :) I may be bringing him home tomorrow instead of Saturday, we are expecting a snow storm Friday night and my truck is useless in the snow and it's usually parked for the winter, '71 GMC.
I do have a pic of my Min Pin, Pachino..

Well hello neighbor, I'm in Broome, not that far away.
We had a couple budgies quite a while ago, they were always really vocal and interacting with anyone and everything in the area. Especially when the windows were open in the summer and they heard the birds outside.

I'm hoping Zazu will get along good with the tiels, going to take that really slow. I know the tiels will be fine with him but I don't think Zazu has been socialized with other birds. Over time I think it will be ok.

You are right, once you earn their trust it's an awesome feeling ! For both sides.

Definitely take it slow with Zazu meeting the tiels, and remember to quarantine him for at least two weeks! I'm sure he's going to love his new home with you :)

I love hearing budgies sing. The male does it nearly all day currently, as he's trying to woo one of the females and is a happy boy.

I also want to add that my adopted conure, Phaedrus, adjusted to other birds wonderfully. He often preens my cockatiel, and of course is very close with my other conure. He's a gentle little man, and so very sweet.

Good luck with your new little one. I'll be looking forward to updates!

Zazu is home ! What an awesome little guy :) I was quite surprised by him with the time I was at his former mother's home. He landed on my shoulder pretty quickly. She had him step off because she was worried he may bite my ear seems he just met me lol. The a few minutes later he landed on my hat, after a couple minutes I put my had up to him and said step up, he got right onto my hand, then bit my thumb :p
I said no bite and he stood back up and looked at me a as if to say sorry my bad. He went to her had and she put him on his cage while we talked some more. Then I see nothing but wings in my face and a Conure hanging on my goatee playing with it LMAO :D

He was absolutely perfect the hour ride home. Once I got him set up in the bird room he goofed around in his cage for a while. He has been so well behaved.
My wife has a cat that won't be allowed anywheres near the bird room, and my Min Pin already chased the cat away from the entrance lol. I think Zazu kinda scare the cat too, he squawked once when he was looking at the cat and the cat didn't stick around. I wonder if there's some bird of prey instinct that the cat is feeling, he didn't like the sound. Which wasn't very loud anyway.
He's a pretty useless cat, won't even chase a mouse, and when my tiels were in the living room we came home to one of the Houdinis flying around and the cat was scared of him :D

Anyway, here's Zazu !
