Hi Brandon, welcome to the forum! There are Plum Headed parakeet owners here, but none that I know of who check here regularly, or lately anyway. Well, I'm an Ex-Plumheaded owner... Does that count? Lol.

I had Shelby almost 20 years ago, but he ended up living with a breeder. They're absolutely gorgeous birds IMO. How handleable is Mango? As is typical for the Psittacula family, Shelby was pretty flighty since he was not handled much after being handfed.

Do you see them much in Ireland?

Ps.. The flightsuit is adorable on your tiels!

Hi, and welcome. I don't live with a Plummie but a good friend nearby has one. She looked for years and years for a mate for him, but could never find one from a reputable source, so he is a tame pet and won't be getting a wife now. He talks a blue streak! I was surprised because I wasn't expecting that to come from him. He speaks in English and in French and is a very pretty boy.

I, too, love your 'tiels' suits. All your birds look happy and healthy.

They are hard to find here I wasn't even looking for one but was looking to get another bird.Theres a bird shop called the Bird jungle all very healthy birds and fed great.Well I saw Mango with cockatiels and after I went home I wanted him and ended up getting him for my Birthday.Mango is 1 year old I just got him November 8th he isn't tame but steps up on my arm and he is getting used to my hands. He is trying to say his name.He is the sweetest thing and gets along great with the tiels. Also Mango has a flightsuit too but I have stopped using it until he is tame dont wanna stress him too much. Was your plummy tame?

No, Shelby wasn't too tame, but he would step up.

They're not too hard to get here, and fairly inexpensive, but they're not very sought after as pets for some reason. The related Indian Ringneck is much more popular.

Since Mango has a fully colored head already, I'd say he's older than a year. If I recall my info correctly, they typically don't get the full color for a couple years if not longer depending on the individual.

I was told he was a year and a half old nearly two years. He is very calm and I think he will be fully tame very soon.I cant wait until he learns to step up.

All are very gorgeous birds! :)

How old are your cockatiels?

As I mentioned in another thread, I'm caring for a wild caught african ringneck. That's about as close as I get to a "plum head"! And african ringnecks are not common pets!

Rocko my Male cockatiel is almost 2 years old I have him since he was around 6-7 months old and it took around 5 months to fully tame him including harness training. And Loki my Female is around a year and a half old.I am planning on breeding them in February.Rocko has a strong bond with me but also a bond with Loki so I like it that way.Loki is very sweet and calm but doesn't really like to hang out with people she prefers to be with other birds.

Oh Rocko is definitely a Male and the pearls is the most obvious sign because the females keep their pearls and Rocko has lost so many.Rocko is one of the quiet Males he does whistle but not talk as not all birds talk lol.He also doesn't play with toys he would rather be with me or sit with Loki asking for scratches all day.
