2 Sun conures: Ben & Jerry
2 parakeets: Ralph & Felix
:orange:
We are renewed bird parents. After losing our friend Woodstock some years back, and a big move overseas, we have been without birds for a while. This Christmas my husband got two parakeets to get started, which our son named Ralph and Felix (from Wreck it Ralph). Then in March when we visited a pet store we saw two sun conures that we absolutely fell in love with. It was a complete impulse decision (although we've talked about getting more birds for years, so we knew the commitment we were making), but Ben and Jerry got to come home with us. Man was that a big change! All the birds get along great, but the noise and the mess certainly keeps us busy 24-7! They are so much fun, and all the kids (yes, there's four kids that also add to the noise and mess) absolutely adore them.
I would love to one day have an African Grey, but the youngest of our kids needs to be a bit older first, I think.

Welcome to the forums! Sounds like your four new additions are fitting in perfectly! I love the names you chose! Looking forward to photos of your flock.

Hello, and welcome to Parrot Forums!

My condolences for the loss of Woodstock. I know it can take a while to get over the loss of a bonded companion bird.

I'm glad to see that Ralph, Felix, Ben and Jerry are fitting so well into your family dynamic! Four children and four birds, eh? Talk about joyful noise! Lol! I know a bit about the noise spectrum myself, with two ekkies and two boys, but I think you've got me beat. Lol!

But to me, there's nothing like the ambient sounds of a happily busy household. I just love it!

Looking forward to photos of your flock as well!

RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
Welcome back to the wonderful world of parrots! Given the high pitch of a Sun Conure, when the time is right you may find an African Grey to be relatively quiet!!

"Birdie". Sun Conure
I have a new sun and love his noise making....he only sounds off first thing in the morning before we take him out and whenever we leave or enter a room. Also when someone rings the doorbell. We love him. He's so sweet and playful. A joy to have around! And he already talks! "What". "What you doin?" and "What's going on?" We've had him about six weeks.
