Hi! My name is Janine :) i feel like this is a P A (parrots anonymous) meeting....
I have a lot of birds.....
Right now I have:
3 macaws (2 greenwings, 1 military)
2 African greys
1 Sulphur crested cockatoo
1 yellow naped amazon
1 double yellow headed amazon
3 lord derbyan parakeets
5 alexandrines (one is lutino)
2 red collard lorikeet
4 senegals
2 dusky conures
1 peach fronted conure
1 Indian ringneck
1 white bellied caique
1 regent parrot
1 Baraband parakeet
1 Moustache Parakeet
8 cockatiels
3 white doves
1 diamond dove
21 lovebirds
3 canaries
9 budgies
18 zebra finches

I have experience with over 70 different species of parrot plus a bunch of other types of birds like canaries, finches, doves, crows, a brown headed cow bird, muscovy ducks, a penguin, button quail, and a mallard duck.

You may wonder what kind of insane human being has so many darn birds...but the reason is, that we (my husband and i) run a rescue....we don't normally have this many birds but with the fort mcmurray fires we ended up taking in a pile of evacuated birds and over 30 of them were abandoned here. We do adopt out the birds that come into care provided they are suitable for adoption, but unfortunately it does take time to find them good homes as we do have a screening process the applicants must pass.

Our rescue has been running since 2009, we have a store that sells parrot supplies that helps fund the rescue that we opened in 2011. My husband is the president of the Edmonton Pet Parrot Association (a parrot club in the town I live in) and I am the show manager for the Northern Alberta Caged Bird Association (a breeders club in the town that I live in) :) so that's pretty much my life in a nutshell. My life is parrots....I would say that i eat, breath and sleep parrots, but that's just creepy because I don't eat them....but my life does revolve around them :):greenyellow::green2::yellow2::green1::yellow1::whiteblue:

Welcome Janine and a warm welcome to your wonderful flock members! I've been hoping you would join us for almost as long as you've been thinking about joining us. I'll take the opportunity to thank you for the tremendous effort you and your rescue put forth for the Fort McMurray birds and for all the other birds you've helped along the way, Thank You!

So it was The Game Room that did the trick? Wish we'd thought of it sooner!

Huge welcome, it's absolutely fantastic to have you here! By the way, thank you for the help with Confetti a little while back, between the advice I got from Terry, and from you through Terry we've finally managed to get her chronic egg laying sorted out, and are able to spend time with her without her instantly going in to mating mode.

If I ever find myself on the colder side of the border, I'm making you and Terry invite me to a toy making party!

Might have to grab a plane on that one. I had to google it just for giggles, it's only 2,600 miles from me to Alberta.

It is quite the road trip for sure..I've done it three times to WVA now, and it was awesome! 7500 miles with detours to see different things in a little over 2 weeks was intense.
A plane is much faster and would give us more toy making time:)

Hi Janine. Awesome to see you here in the forum.

Meika's Bird House is a must for anyone in the Edmonton area. Ian has spent quite a bit of time with me showing me the 'ropes' per se when it comes to parrot parenting.
