That is a crazy story! It sounds like they are very used to people to be willing to come to you like that, I imagine someone is very very sad and missing two feathered kids.

So fantastic of you to give them fresh water and some friendliness. You very well could have saved their lives. Now the key is to make sure they can stay safe. Are you in a position you could house them inside temporarily? Are you thinking maybe you want to try and keep them if you can't find the owner?

Feel free to ask any questions you may have, we will do our best to help.

RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
Thank you for joining the forums!! Very nice of you to help and care about these macaws! Can you share with us the general area you live, and whether they naturally fly free? Trying to understand if they are escaped pets or young birds that are separated from their parents?

Well Rooster, welcome. You have someones birdy kids, they must be frantic. So - if you're not going to keep them ( not reccommended - macaws are tough first birds - 2 of them would be really tough) list them on the local Craigslist in the pets and lost and found, and other lost pet sites. You can keep them overnight in the bathroom, after removing anything remotely soap, fragrence , shaving etc -like. Its a small room that can be darkened so they go to sleep. Reallt tough call here. THinking about keeping them? you are looking at $1- 1.5K between cage, vet chekup, toys, foods, etc, etc.

Good on ya for caring either way.

Been there.
Use the search here.
Go to the macaw section and start from the back and read forward.
Birds are a trip and a lifestyle.
Good luck
