Hello Everyone!
I just wanted to say what a help this forum has been for the last few months.
About 5 months ago I took in a Blue Fronted Amazon from an older woman who didn't want to take care of her anymore. I've never had a bird before so I started googling everything I could about parrots and found this site. Based on what I've read here I've gotten her on a better diet and completely redone her cage, taking out the wooden dowels and replacing with rope and other soft perches. The vet says her feet are doing much better!
Sunny is somewhere in her 40's according to the vet and she cannot fly. She was badly abused by her first owner (not the woman I got her from) and her wings did not heal right. They have almost completely atrophied.
Despite this she is sweet bird and likes nothing more then to sit on my shoulder and tell me what a good girl she is. I am having an issue getting her to sit any where other then my shoulder or the top of her cage. Do you have any advise on how to introduce her to a free standing or table top perch?
I am also switching over my cookware to stainless steel and cast iron but am having trouble finding an electric table top griddle that is not non-stick. Does anyone have an example of a bird safe one?
I'm sure I'll have more questions as the months go on. Thanks for your help!
