Welcome to the forums, thanks for joining!!

I must confess a total lack of familiarity with lovebirds, budgies, and finches. But we have many members who can better help with your decision.

Welcome to you and your flock!

I don't have lovebirds of my own but from what I understand, people frequently keep two or more together, that said, we have members here with very happy single lovies, some very friendly and interactive with their humans.

We'd love to see pics of your flock!

There's absolutely no need to keep them pairs, it's just a myth. I used to raise Lovebirds years ago. If you keep them in pairs, they tend to go wild pretty quick. Plus it is harder to train a pair. And yes they can be trained. I used to have one named Cookie, he would fly to me on command, he was my attack bird. :)

Two cockatiels and a Green Cheek Conure.
A lady I used to know many years ago has a Lovebird that was very tame. She would bring him to the Parrot club meeting and he would entertain us with his tricks: throwing a ball in a net, picking up a block and placing it in a bowl, etc. it was so neat to see this little guy performing.

Hello and welcome to the forum!
A Lovebird can definitely be tamed, and as mentioned they are easier to keep tame if you only have one. If they are going to spend a lot of time alone though I highly recommend getting two. They are very social and need companionship, whether human or bird.
