Hello ...
My wife and I have been "almost" bird owners for more than three decades. Just never seemed that it would work in our household; however, after four years of retirement, we now find that owning a couple birds is a great choice.
We did a lot of studying, looking, and handling of birds over the last few months. I've read a couple books and we've both spent lots of time doing our homework on the 'net. We narrowed our choices to the Conure (green cheek) or the Cockatiel. In the end, the personalities of the Conure simply won the day for the breed.
Last week we picked up a Rose Crown and a Cinnamon Conure. Now the adventure begins, and so far it is going pretty well. Both birds are adjusting, though very differently. My wife's (The Rose Crown) is a bigger personality, so far, and seems to be adjusting to her much faster. Mine, a small Cinnamon, is improving almost daily on his trust and acceptance of me.
I look forward to learning much more about our new pets while in this forum. Thanks for reading, and I look forward to meeting fellow owners.
