Hi. My name is Winston I'm 16 I'm a American who has lived in new Guineas ever since I was born. I have been crazy about birds ever since I was little my first bird was a wild adult male eclictus I bought when I was 5. I have kept all different kinds of birds from hornbills Victoria crowned pigeons to sea eagles and goshawks. I practice falconry and have raised baby Hawks, Eagles, parrots and sparrows.

Welcome and be welcomed, Winston. You certainly have have varied bird experience! While this mostly a parrot based board, we welcome any who have a love of birds in general. Just keep them raptors away from my baby! Are you owned by any parrots now?

I've raised five other eclectus parrots and had no trouble with them. But this new one has been a little trouble some I started spoon feeding him and he ate fine for a week but now he is not really eating as well he doesn't take much food and he spits a lot of it out. I've had other eclectus parrots be a little picky but not like him he does have a very different personality than any of my other birds. So I was wondering if any one knows some helpful feeding tips

RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
Welcome to the forums, Winston! You have an interesting life story so far!!

Eclectus can be difficult and ornery to hand feed, but my last experience was about 28 years ago! I'm sure other members with current practice can give you some assistance.

Found this thread in the Breeding forum. The subject isn't an Eclectus, but might give you some ideas: http://www.parrotforums.com/breedin...hello-new-here-have-hand-feeding-problem.html

Hopefully you will get some responses in this thread, but if not feel free to create a thread in another sub-forum, such as Eclectus or Breeding/Raising Parrots.

Hi Winston!!
Welcome!! Sounds like you've had experiences with birds that none of us here in the states can imagine. We have a hawk that perched in our front tree during the summer. I have a very tiny Shih Tzu so I watch him extra close when we go out. Just don't want that hawk thinking my furbaby is dinner.
My daughter Ellie is also 16. She's the one that taught us how great birds can be. Previously I thought they were boring. I know better now. Our young SC is
Probably around 5-6 mos(guessing since he's just starting his first molt) and he is an simp.
Maybe Ellie will pop in and catch you online sometime, she'd be thrilled to hear all the things you've experienced,
Peg
