Hello. My name is Yuliza. I am the mom to 22 lovebirds. My oldest one, Bella, will be 10 years in March. My youngest one is 5 months old. I've had to raise one due to the mom being inexperineced and abandoning it. Hes a healthy 2 year old now named Weezer. No kids of his own yet. There thriving and living happy little lives!

What a beautiful flock. I'd love to hear some of the details of managing a big number of birds in an enclosure like that. They all just socialize and pair off? How do you get in and out of there without a mass exodus? I'd love to visit and experience something like that.

By the way, you're the second Yuliza I have met... the other is a cousin! I'm half-Mexican, but I'm a full lover of Mexican food!

Yes, they all get along most of the time. The females are the ones who fight often. A new couple actually killed a female today in a terrible fight trying to steal her home. May she rest in peace. They all find their mates within the flock if there's availability. When I need to go inside, I remove the lock on the door & since they recognize the sound of the lock, they fly to the opposite side of the cage trying to avoid me since most of them were never tamed. Weezer has flown out a few times on accident but he quickly makes a u-turn back inside. They're really smart! Whenever they need water or more food, Bella will gather everyone at the ledge of the cage when they hear the house door open and chirp to grab my attention. Intelligent creatures.

RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
Welcome to the forums, Yuliza! My condolences for the loss of your female.

You have a beautiful village, hope they continue to thrive and get along better.

I wish ours fids would do that. Some sit right above the door while i walk in. We do have a mesh cover to walk through that stops them though.

Our Scruffy has trained the rest to do that when they want fresh grass.

I use to have a walk in cage for my sugargliders...i had and still do own alot of them. I had a double door. You walk into one..shut it behind you then open another. My friends have the same type of cage for their teils and it works great.
