Cinnamon-Turquoise Green Cheeked Conure and Cockatiel
Hey guys! I just found this forum somehow, and I decided to join! My name's Amber, I'm 15 years old, and I've had a major interested in parrots and wild birds ever since I was 8. I took it upon myself to educate myself with the different types of birds, begging my parents to buy me my first ever bird-book when I was nine, and soon learning all 500 pages by heart by the age of 11. In the meantime, I have joined several birding clubs around my area, a couple of which were for adults, but let me in because of my passion. At the age of 13, I decided that I'd stop eating poultry, and I've been without it for two years straight now. I hope to meet all of you with a shared interest!

I currently own 2 pet birds, a rare Cinnamon-Turquoise Green Cheeked Conure named Skittles, and a rescue Cockatiel named Diamond. If you want to see A BUNCH more pictures of them, I suggest you look at my old Instagram account (that I shared with my sister, who is the same age as me since I'm a triplet). https://www.instagram.com/cockatiel_and_conure/

Me and my sister stopped posting to that account over a year ago, we've been lazy, and ever since the death of another Cockatiel that we loved, named Sunshine. R.I.P. <3

Hello and welcome to the forums! You'll love it here, there's so much great information. I checked out your Instagram account and added you. Very sweet looking brids you have!! I was right around your age when I got interested in birds also, they're just the best. So different from other pets yet so loveable too.

RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
Welcome to the forums, Amber, glad you found us! You are going to fit in so well. I deeply admire your dedication to learning about and not just collecting birds.

My condolences for your loss of Sunshine. She was a beauty.

Welcome to birds :) I got my first parrots when I was 16 and have had them ever since. We also have a lot of native birds around as well a pair of geese, some ducks and hens. It's been fun to see how things have changed since the end of imports and the different thoughts on flight training now. Always something new.

Welcome! I see you are on the path to being a much better owner of birds than I was at your age! Losing a member of your flock is really saddening, I haven't owned a permanent bird for the last 6 years because of that same reason, but luckily I have recovered now and I hope you will too.

Do you have any plans for your birds when you go off to college?
