Hi All
I am new here. I just adopted a severe macaw yesterday :) he's SOOOOOO adorable...i had a sulfur crested eons ago and really started missing having a bird...so i started searching bird rescues and ended up with Salsa...when i went to meet him he bit me (big surprise right?) Today he's letting met PET him, he steps up nicely and came back to me when he decided to explore the back of the couch....this is my first ever macaw and only my second bird (other than parakeets and a cockatiel as a child)

I will probably have a TON of questions....He is my only bird, i have two rescue dogs and two rescue cats in the house...I have five horses (four are rescues) and i love my animals (and bird) better than most humans....

Looking forward to learning all i can. I am located in central wisconsin

Aww, WELCOME SALSASMOM!!!! Salsa is BEAUTIFUL!! I think you'll truly enjoy being a part of this forum, as most ALL of us feel the same about our birds and other animals as you do. We like them more than MOST human folk, LOL. You'll learn a lot of great information to help you along the way with Salsa, I've learned so much myself, I adopted a 5 week old Congo African Grey, who is now 11 wks and the light of my life, but I've had TONS of questions and have received great advice from all of these guys! CONGRATS! Here's to many fun years to come for you and Salsa!

WOW thanks everyone...i already love it here :) Usually i am home alone all week, so just myself and my animals (and that is one reason i wanted a bird in my life again) So yesterday poor Salsa had to meet the husband, one of my adult children and both of my step children (oh and a good friend of mine) ALL within a matter of a couple hours....he wanted to be naughty but held it together pretty well once i told everyone to ignore him and carry on as if he wasn't even here (it was the hardest for my husband) He (salsa) did have a little hissy fit when my husband got close to his perch and i corrected him, and it was almost like he was ashamed of himself...and decided best to just behave and ignore as well....
