Hi! My name is Jason. I live in cheyenne. I currently have a young female cockatiel I've had for like 2 months named jazz and a sun conure I recently got from someone locally. He has no leg band but she said he's 3 years old. His name is peanut! He hasn't showed me everything he can do but I know he likes to cuddle on my neck and he gives kisses and I learned he can fly. Also small young parakeet named Leslie. Jazz is my sweet girl she goes everywhere with me.

Hello and welcome! A cute little trio you've got there. LOVE the bright sunny plumage of the sun conure. I'll look forward to reading about your flock and seeing more photos soon!

Welcome to the forums, Jason!! Beautiful flock you have, thanks for the awesome pics!! How many "takes" did you need for the first pic of the trio together?

Thanks guys!

Haha I actually was able to get that picture in one take surprisingly lol.

I'm fairly new to birds, about a years experience with budgies and then I decided to step it up to a cockatiel a couple months ago. I got bird fever again and found peanut on Craigslist. He has a wellness appointment at the vet today to make sure he's healthy. You guys convinced me he should go so I was able to make an appointment today at a local vet. Hopefully they are knowledgeable on birds and not just looking for a paycheck.

Ah yes, it is called M.B.S. Multiple Bird Syndrome. I assure you, Jason, you are in good company!

While many clinics can provide basic services for birds, an avian certified vet is best. Birds are not mammals and have very different disease and treatment profiles. Specialized equipment and dedicated training are necessary to effectively treat any significant illness.

Did a quick search and found this list of vets in the Cheyenne area: https://www.yellowpages.com/cheyenne-wy/bird-veterinarians

Checked just a few; Avenues claims to treat birds and is a 24/7 center. Word of mouth and referrals are a great way to find the ideal vet.

Basic examination of a bird is a physical check and generally a blood panel to screen for obvious problems. More in depth can be throat and fecal cultures and advanced blood tests. Keep in mind birds generally hide symptoms of illness as they are prey animals in the wild. When you observe a "sick" bird it likely has been so for a while. Yes, there are some vets quick to "gouge" you and order every possible test. Do try to check online references!

Thanks for all the compliments! I'm so happy with my birds. They each add warmth and happiness to my home. Peanut went to the vet and got a clean bill of health, a fresh clipping and nails trimmed.

We jammed out on the way to the vet. See video
