What is life like with your parrots?

Hey guys! so just a quick question, what is life like with your parrots? Are they noisy, affectionate. I would just like to hear about your experiences and what birds you have. :04: :red:

They are noisy, affectionate, beautiful, challenging, rewarding, inquisitive, etc. For me parrots are a lifestyle, integrated with everything I do in my home. Like the old cliche of vacations, getting away is great, returning home is better!

My amazons are affectionate and loyal. Not to noisy 90% of the time. I only get bitten when I am not paying attention to what there body language is saying.

My African Grey is like having a sound/noise generator set on "random". She can come up with the most amazing things. She is stubborn and friendly when she wants to be. Has never bitten anyone in my household (warning nips only).

My cockatiels give me an air-show in my home every day. They are playful, get so wrapped up in playing with and hanging from toys they fall right off.
They are like Lays potato chips, You can't stop with just one.

I have a Senegal, but it's still a baby. So far it's kind of like having a puppy except it's a bird. They require the same things like training and socializing and not spending too much time away. Although once a dog becomes a well behaved member of the family it stays that way, I've heard birds can change, however, so it's always an ongoing thing with them. That's what I've heard anyway.

I have a screened porch and she spends most of her time on her table top perch and play area, but if I go into the house and leave her out there for too long she goes to the front door step and yells what sounds like "yoo hoo". And she's still a baby, I'm awaiting what other comical stuff she's going to start doing.

I needed you to ask this question tonight! I had a rough day with my little mmonster today... just usual stuff. My bird is a clever mimic, a total character, and a lovely specimen, buttttttttttttttt...

Even after all these years, I sometimes find myself putting myself or my bird down... stuff like...
I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO PUT UP WITH THIS OR THAT.
WHY CAN'T HE BE SWEET AND NICE, LIKE A PUPPY?
PEOPLE WILL NEVER UNDERSTAND WHY I PUT UP WITH THIS.
Stuff like that.
But the Rb is a parrot... one generation out of the wild.
I do all the right things, as much/well as I can, but in the end, I just LOVE my bird,
Some parrots are SO SWEET, some are NOT. I'm HAPPY and a bit JEALOUS of those successes.
I have lessened my psychological and physical wounds over the decades... not because I've changed the bird, but I have changed me. And a lot of that has involved giving up on a lot of my desires/expectations. After years of battle, I surrendered.

Consequently, I have a Tazmanian Devil on my hands. I love him. I have no complaints, really. He's HIMSELF. And I'm MYSELF. And the result... check my Signature for videos. etc., if you like.
Over the years, I have been very embarassed/downhearted/sad about having a pet that was so... out of my control.
But ventually, I accepted the fact that I have an amazing half-wild being who loves me and perches on my hand and speaks to me! It's magic enough.
