:) hi everyone.

I am hopefully getting a blue headed pionus within a couple of months. My friend is retiring and can't take all of her birds when she leaves the country.

I'm not new to keeping birds, but this will be the largest bird I've had other than chickens.

We are very excited to get Ray and learn a lot from the folks here.

Have a great day all!

Jack - African Grey or is he a Red-tailed hawk
Welcome aboard
Those are neat looking birds. I had to look him up. Before I joined this site they where all just birds. Unlike you I was theatened by the business end of a double barreled shotgun to care for an African Grey. Since Jack's arrival I have come to realize there is a civilization of avian beings in dire need of help and rescue. I've been around these little creatures for years but I just never paid much attention to them.
I hope your adventure with your new companion is as fulfilling as mine has been so far.
If your luck holds and you do land a relationship, you are another one of my hero's.

True heroism is remarkably sober, very undramatic. It is not the urge to surpass all others at whatever cost, but the urge to serve others, at whatever cost.

Good luck and may the force be with you always

Caution: I am a parrot parent in training and my emotions are contagious

Congrats on your "hopefully" soon to be new Pionus :).

I have a Bronze Winged male named Raven, but he nicknamed himself Ray or Ray Ray whenever he doesn't feel like saying Raven lol. He's pretty crotchety and you have to watch his moods, but he has such a sense of humor. He's hilarious. Then I used to have a female who was easy going and sweet. They're all really different.

When will you know for sure if you're getting Ray?
