Re: indian ring neck

hi, and welcome to the forum! I reccomend you pick up a copy of the book "parrots for dummies" itls a great intrroduction, and many of the members here swear by it.

as for training and socialization, it's going to require patience and more patience. Your bird has just had a dramatic change in its life, birds are creatures of habbit and need time to adjust to new situations. First step is going to be just getting the bird used to your presence. This means working on the bird's time. Sit near the cage and talk quietly to him/her for a while each day. You can read a book, or surf the web, whatever, the key is to make the bird realize that your are not a threat. If the bird shows interest in you, you can offer it treats through the bars of the cage. You might try apple or bits of grapes... Don't push, let the bird come to you. This is your first step and could take a few days or a few weeks depending on the bird.

did the breeder tell you anything about general care and feeding? Do you know how old the bird is or any other history? How big is and where is the cage located? I'm sure other members will have more to say and searching the forum will reveal tons of info on this and other topics!

again, welcome, and hope you enjoy the stay!
