Green Cheek Conure - "Corgi"
Good evening, everyone! My name is Mark and my wife and I bought this little cutie from the local pet store, after seeing him in there for over 6 months. He has so much personality and is such a sweet little thing, when he finally came down in price due to length of stay, we just couldn't resist. :D

As you can see, he has wasted no time in getting comfortable, and tonight (his third night in the house), he was begging to be let out and to come snuggle. My wife took him out and he made it clear that he wanted me, once going so far as to flutter back over to me after she tried taking him.

The dogs and cats seem to be warming up to him very nicely - the cats have stopped caring, and the pit bull is too dumb to even notice, but the Shiba Inu is super fascinated, and plays with him through the bars of his cage.

RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
Welcome to the forums, Mark! Seems you have been chosen by Corgi, perhaps he can be socialized to be civil with your wife.

Please use caution with your dogs and cat. The most disinterested animal can endanger Corgi in the blink of an eye. There are many strategies to keep him safe, mostly creating easy to follow habit patterns that prevent unwanted physical contact.

Yes be careful of the other animals, but I think you'll find the GCC is the most loving and loyal of all! My buddy hangs out with me all the time I'm home except when I'm sleeping. feel free to ask any questions we have a lot of conure owners on here with a wealth of knowledge.

I love Green Cheeks... I've admired them forEVER!
If only the Rickeybird would let me have one. Or two. Or ten.
You'll get great advice and support here.
I'm glad you found us.

Corgi is absolutely adorable! I love pineapple GCCs, if I could get another one it would be a pineapple. Just the sweetest little thing you have!

Well, all things said, I will have a Sheba pup added to my menagerie tomorrow! Is there a halfway house for this insanity?

I'd be scared of pups most of all, it's all instinct to them, where an older dog might ignor the bird completely or realize it's part of his "pack". (vs. flock)

should have told that to my old Cairn Terrier

19 years old, so fat his belly could touch the ground. He saw a squirrel or a bird in the garden he would shoot of faster than anything on this planet!

no idea! He was a rescue, just wouldn't trust him around a bird, nor any of my other pets over the years!

My pineapple GCC has quite a personality. She bobs her head up and down all the time it looks like she's dancing. One of my favorite things is when she puffs her feathers up like that. so cute! sometimes when I uncover her cage shes just hanging upsidedown from the roof. just hanging there. GCC's are silly indeed. beautiful baby you have!

Thanks for all the wonderful replies, everyone!

The concern about Kimber - our Sheba - is all valid. She is the only animal in the house who still has an obsession with Corgi, but as soon as she gets close, Corgi gives her the bidness. Occasionally Corgi will flutter about the house and be chased, but Kimber was already "sternly corrected" for attempting to pounce the birdo, and she no longer tries to make any actual contact. We still keep a close eye on her, of course!

I just realized where you are from I used to live in allentown, well breinigsville actually, about a block away from the velodrome.

I'd be very careful, just because your dog obeys when your right there.....it's like when you leave the house and the dog suddenly decides to tip over and go through the trash, he may not think far enough ahead, at least yet and do something without thinking.
