Floyd, 3 yo Green Indian Ringneck parrot
Hi Everyone!
I'm Belinda. I found my Floyd exhausted, sitting on the road at my bus stop on November 16 2017.

He's an Indian Ringneck between 2 and 3 years old, and of all the darn things he steps up like a champion and kisses noses and cheeks often *not biting*

I'm looking for his humans, but am having no luck. He has no ID ring on his leg (apparently this isn't always a thing in the USA but it is here in Australia)

This is my first time as a bird owner without parental supervision . So I'm trying to educate myself on the fly. As far as I am aware, he's settling in better than most and his little personality is winning me over.

Looking forward to making some new friends, and keeping my Floyd safe and healthy while he is in my care, be that short or long term.

X Belinda & Floyd

Welcome to you both! I’m so glad you picked him up. There’s lots of great information here and lots of very experienced people to ask questions of - so you landed in a great spot to educate yourself :). Welcome and enjoy....and hope you’ll post some pictures of your new friend.

Welcome :) well done for taking care of Floyd, he will be very grateful for that!
To find the owner have you tried FaceBook/police or call your local avian vet? etc, social media is fantastic these days

Facebook, Parrot alert, lost pet finder, rspca, and a few other places.
I'm not sure how far back in time, and how far geographically to be looking though.
He was in pretty good condition, so I don't think he's been out in the world long.

Hello Belinda, and welcome to the Parrot Forums family!

What you're doing for Floyd is wonderful, and it's so good to see someone doing all that they can to reunite a bird with his parront. Keep doing what you're doing, and hopefully Floyd's person will eventually see one of your postings.

One suggestion is that you take note of any particular markings or behaviors that might seem unique to this bird and keep said observations to yourself. Keeping such info as a prerequisite to people actually seeing the bird will help to weed out the unscrupulous.

Welcome to the forums, thanks so much for rescuing and caring for Floyd. With a bit of luck you'll find his human flock. If not, he'll likely make a great companion!

You're a hero, to me, and a savior to Floyd!
Wonderful, wonderful!
That expression of his says "Yeah, I definitely nailed this!"
Do tell... how did you decide on the name "Floyd". I love it.
Thank you for sharing.

Welcome and be welcomed. Good on ya for taking this stray in and working to find his people. You can also try leaving a message with vets in your part of the country, they might know of a green IRN thats been to see them.

I think I added an answer to this one in the how did you name your bird thread but I'll put it in here as well.

On his first night with us, after putting his cage together and leaving him to settle in I played Pink's carpool karaoke, and he went nuts.

Even though it's a very Aussie thing to call things the opposite of what they are (eg:- people with red hair are often nick named blue) I didn't want to call him Pink. But Pink Floyd is a thing so Floyd it is.
