I bought 2 ringneck parrots 2 days ago. They about 2 months old. The one still requires feeding and is doing fine. My concern is for the other one who seems he/she doesn't require feeding but since i got it i have not seen it eat or seen any empty seed shells on the cage floor. It this normal ?? Is he/she just nervous ??

Its doesn't move around that much and is still a little nervous.

Plz help

First, Congratulations on your new birds! Are you doing one feeding at night? The night time feeding should be the last feeding before weaning. What other foods are you offering besides seed? Since they are so young you need to offer them pellets and fresh fruits & veggies instead of seed. You can give them cooked rice, cooked pasta, bread, etc... If you eat it, they mostly can eat it also. If you can avoid it, don't start them on seeds because it does not provide a good source of nutrition for them and once they get started on seed its hard to break them from it. They need a wide variety of foods. Also try some millet to get them used to eating but do not offer it everyday. Use it more as a treat than a food. I'm sure they are still nervous but just keep trying different foods and he/she will eat eventually. Also, are you new to birds? If so, do not give them chocolate, avocados, onions, fruit pits, salty foods or caffeine. Good luck with your new birds and enjoy them!

Thanks for the replay. The one i am feeding 3 times a day. He/She is doing great. I have sunflower seeds and carrots in there cage. Will put fruit in tomorrow. I have owned birds before but not Ringneck. Been researching about them and really like them so my dad got myself and my mom one for our birthday.

I feed the one when ever it hungry. He/she does that head bobbing food motion, but it has feathers. Not its baby feather but its proper feathers. The other one doesn't do the head bobbing or anything but does look older than the other one :/. I just don't want them to die over something simple that i can fix.

Have you tried feeding the older one just one feeding at night? They will wean themselves off of feedings and the nightly feeding is usually the last to go. I would offer foods and then try and get him to eat one feeding a day at night. Do you happen to have any pics of them?

Not a the moment i don't have pics. Will post some up tomorrow. I did feed the other one tonight but just a bit. I have Baby Parrot food that a bought today for the other one and just decide to feed the one so it act least has something is its crop. Will give it a bash and take the seeds out and put fruit and veg in tomorrow. Crossing fingers all will turn out fine :/
