Cuban Amazon
Hi, I'm Izzy and my family and I have a 14 year old Cuban Amazon named Cookie (though we say it with a Spanish accent lol). I am not her fave, but I'm working on it..slowly :(

BUT, she loves my Dad and my little brother, so she gets loved on for sure! Everyone else is fair game haha
Anyways, I joined this forum because I love birds and I also want to learn even more as I spend my time here. Also, we plan on changing her diet to chop, but we still aren't so sure how to go about it, so we are doing research, hence me joining the forum.

I am happy to be here and hope to get the advice I need to make her a happier birb <3
And also to do some parrot art maybe!

Hi! We had her since she was a baby, I was really young at the time so my memory is fuzzy, but she was young to the point where my Dad would still need to hand feed her.
I will be sure to post pics in the future!
Hola to Coookie's family!

RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
Welcome to the forums, Izzy and Cookie!

Conversion to chop varies from easy to a lifelong struggle. What is Cookie's diet at present? If it is all seed, you might try mixing a pellet mix and gradually reduce the proportion of seed. When introducing chop, remove the other foods for a few hours and watch the response. A short time without the current diet won't hurt. You're not trying to starve Cookie into submission, rather give appetizing choices without competition.
