Hi just introducing myself,

Im Kylie from Western Australia and well Ive been looking at alot of bird forums and yours seems really friendly. I have two parrots my first was a female eclectus Ruby she is nearly a year old and was my little darling until I got my new bird now she is my BIG darling LOL She was handreared and she is great. She is a one person bird as Ive heard some eclectuses are and because I have small kids the beak was a bit intimidating. She love it when I pat her and curls up on my chest and goes to sleep. She doesnt like her head touched though. Her fav thing in the world is having a shower, which she does on my towel airer which I put into the shower so she can walk where ever she likes. If I put her on a single perch she hates it.

My new little fella is a Sun Conure which I got last wednesday and he is such a cuddle pot, I am finding it hard though as Im not sure where or how to pat his head, Ruby hates that,Anyway, he rubs and pushes his head into my hands so I know he wants a pat but Im just not sure how, I try and read his cue but he is still getting used to me and visa versa. Any tips? Do they like it just on the feather or a bit harder to the underfeathers etc forward or backwards, I just dont want to stuff it up as I really want him to continue liking it. and not just sit on my shoulder, even though I love that to. But that is why I fell in love with him was because he is such a cuddle pot.

Oh his name is Toolleeo, LOL and the children love him, full on war over who gets to hold him and how long for.

My husband thinks Im nuts and says I look like the strange bird lady when everyone is having a cuddle on me, but he says it with a smile and a twinkle in his eye even though he has threatened bird curry when Ruby found my open laptop, LOL just a few keys missing LOL

Cheers everyone :red1: :orange: :41:

Welcome to the forum!

Can't wait to see pics!

My sunny likes to be more "massaged" on her head and neck. Thumb and forefinger gently stroking. If I try and use one finger in a "patting" motion, she pushes my finger off with her beak lol!

I'd just go with the flow until you can tell your sunny is in bliss lol.
