Hello, fellow wingnuts!
I'm excited to listen in on some birdie chirpychats!

I'm from Georgia, USA.
I was born an animal lover and have been honored to share my life with Zebra Finches to Robins, chickens to Umbrellas. All my birds have been adopted, rescued or rehabbed (well, the chickens I hatched).

I just lost my precious little Lovebird, Peaches last week. <sigh>
All the silly flirts, dances and coos from Cruizer (feral pigeon) warm my heart, but I'm longing for a cuddly hookbill soulmate.

Health and housing issues now dictate that I choose something less raucous and destructive than larger parrots. Considering Senegals, Ringnecks and similar birds, I think I've settled on a Blue Crowned Conure. I've always adopted so I'm hoping this time to find a baby, hopefully a young male so there won't be any chance of becoming eggbound. :-(

I'm excited to meet you and I look forward to learning and sharing whenever I can. Thank you all.

Hello and welcome!

With such a specific species, gender and age in mind, you may not have a whole lot of luck finding one to adopt on these forums. You rbest best is to try a classifieds site like hoobly.com (I got my two cockatiels from there) or craigslist, or you could consider going through a breeder to get one, you will have to pay a premium for a weaned baby but you will get exactly what you want this way.

welcome.

It helps if we know just where you are located.

We have people from all over this globe on sight, from Norway to Australia.

Have you considered a Grey?

My experience is somewhat limited but I don't think they are screamers.
Noises, whistles and talking yes but my grey only screams with due cause, like toweling her.

From the Conure's I have seen in the pet shops their shrill calling is just too much for me.

RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
Welcome to the forums. My deep condolences for the loss of Peaches.

Thanks for adopting/rescuing/rehabbing. They often make the best companions.

Welcome and be welcomed. I am sorry to learn of your lovebiird Peachrs passing. If you are considering other parrots, might I recommend the yellow wing parrot. Cousin to the amazons, its latin name is Brotogeris. Smaller then a cockatiel, larger then a parrotlette, they have the big bird attitude and a little bird body. The can talka bit and learn to whistle quite well. They easily make bonds with multiple family members. And they are much quieter then most conures, God Luck

I'm partial to green cheek conures, but totally biased......
