Hi Karen and welcome. I think your mum might of left you in a pickle. Parrots are like small children even the smallest ones and require so much individual care, time and attention. Owning just 1 Grey is a full time job to keep them mentaly stimulated and happy otherwise it can lead to all kinds of issues including self harm/mutilation being the worst. They are more a Parrot for more experienced owners. I know i couldnt handle one yet nevermind 4.

Advice i can give is get them all seperate cages, big cages, find out genders, get them to the vets for this and a checkup. Its gonna cost though. Find out the best diet. They will need lots of toys each and regular. Be prepared for these birds now being your life 24/7 and alot of expense. Each bird will have different individual needs. Honestly i just think its way too much for someone to handle who has no experience at all and personally id find good homes for them and keep a parakeet or 2 and start your Parrot owning journey from there.

They will need seperating too or you may face territorial issues and violence and expensive vet trips. Please dont read this post as me being horrible, im just being honest and offering the best advice with the experience i have and with the well being of the birds in mind. It is a hell of a lot of birds x

You're in the right place! This is a wondeerful community.

A pickle is right! But however you got them, you seem to have some great energy and open-mindedness.

*IF* you decide to keep them, please be ready to hit the ground running! You'll need to start a list (e.g., diet, cages, bonding, etc) and begin reading and learning. The things you need to know are here, but...

You have a big hill to climb.

Is there anybody in your area... parrot club, rescue facility, breeders or other experienced people who could help you?

RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
Welcome to you and your miniature aviary zoo!

You have a quartet of the most intelligent and fascinating parrots! Greys are stunningly attractive and willful, you'll have to establish yourself as the "Alpha." We're here to help with advice, but having a local support group would be beneficial.

I assume the four Greys have not associated together? Some parrots do very well in a "flock" situation if they can mesh personalities. You may find one or more will become close buddies; if so your challenge may be reduced a bit.

Please consider reading abundantly from the Congo and Timneh Grey forum, but this ought be your first thread! http://www.parrotforums.com/congo-timneh-greys/59366-cag-101-a.html

Hi Karen. I found some good diet information for your Greys if you havent already seen this.

African Grey Parrot - African Grey Diet and Nutrition

Seems pellets offer a much healthier diet for them over seeds which are unhealthy and fattening.

A good healthy diet really shows with Parrots. They are happier and their feathers look so much better.

It might take time to convert them to pellets too but its really worth it. They are so healthy.

Anything you need just post ok x
