I have one pet budgie.
Hello, I just joined here.
I have one little pastel baby budgie, Skyler, who I picked up from a breeder last month, after my sweet, half-English budgie passed after 14 years of his joyful, cheerful, and chatty presence. Skyler is a sweet baby who has just discovered his voice and the joys of preening.

I used to breed canaries, finches, budgies, and cockatiels. Lots of work!

Many years ago I also had an African Grey who sadly passed away very suddenly and a Senegal parrot in the late 80's who, after two years of being my sweet, wonderful hand-fed baby, became a vindictive and nasty biter. He opened up my nose/face on several occasions (accompanied by a malicious little laugh and would say OUCH!) and would fly at me to attack whatever exposed skin he could get his beak into. Not a good experience! After trying to work with him extensively for several years, I ended up giving him to a friend whose fingers he also shredded, but who was more tolerant of his behavior because the bird fell in love with his roommate! He had the bird for at least 10 years and I heard that he (bird) recently passed away.

I wouldn't rule out breeding or having bigger birds again, but for now, just one little sweet budgie baby to spoil works well. I also am mom to 2 older (neutered male) sugar gliders, two goldfish a turtle, and assorted orchids. I am also an artist, so will probably be posting some drawings of the new baby soon.

Hello and welcome to you and Skyler!!

With all your experience you will be a great addition to the forum. I am currently breeding cockatiels and yes it is sure work but so rewarding!

I dabble in cartooning and love drawing too. Can't wait to see your work!

Again...welcome!

I have to ask this...... and I'm not trying to be a smart ass or a dick or anything in any way....but like would the budgie sit on the turtles shell and like hang out and eat the same foods and all that? Both are ex-dinosaurs and would like the same veggies etc.

I mean I'm just wondering if that would work and please god send a a picture of it if it's like a real thing.

LOL, although the bird is very social, the turtle is decidedly less so. I have had him for 20 years and he still hisses at me every single day when I feed him.

That said, the turtle and the budgie do enjoy the same veggies and their pellets would probably be transferrable too. I know that after I did a nutrition analysis on the requirements of the sugar gliders I started giving them fruit flavored bird pellets as an addition to their diet, when I am away from home.(Gliders/flyers??)
