Rio (Yellow sided conure) sadly no longer with us
not sure about gender but some friendly tips for you.

You need a bigger cage (as big as you can get)

You also need to change the perches to natural wood ones. The ones you have are very bad for their feet

Also, provide toys for your bird otherwise they can begin plucking and mutilating themselves

Welcome to Parrot Forums!!!

I am not a Tiel expert! That said, I would 'guess' you have a male. We will wait for the Tiel experts to provide an official determination on the Sex. But, he looks like he has a want to be out of the cage and with you!

When you bring a Parrot into new surroundings, they tend to be less active and less vocal at first.

Al, I had the same first impression. But, in later photo's, I noted that it was the owner's finger.

Im not going to lie, i don't think private area should be green like that?

True. The green is more likely from 'runny' (overly wet) stool, which can be common when bring a new Parrot home.

But, thank-you for pointing that out. If the Parrot's stool does not return to normal this weekend, he should be seen by a Avian Vet.

It may be difficult to know until he/she has matured. Can you look under the wings? females are the quieter ones, the males tend to do more whistling and chirping. You can try wing spot sexing by extending the wings and looking underneath to see where the spots are, though you may not be able to know for sure until they molt.

Here's some helpful pictures..

thank you very much, from the wings you can see the yellow bars but not all over the wing, he occasionally emits a whistle but not continuous, he often moves, often scratches, do you think you must set in the new environment to sing? he is from Sunday with us, 5 days ....

Oh yes, he will need some more time to settle in. Allow a couple more weeks for him to settle and he should begin to come out of his shell.

It is on the smaller side but liveable. If your lutino gets a lot of time out of the cage every day they should be okay! :)

Lovely Tiel you have. I think birdies vocalise more when their trust grows in us. I know they like chewing for fun so lots of toys including wooden ones will really help him develop. Try whistling to him often also, he might like it x
