Hi. Our 6 year old female Alexandrine parakeet came to us in August. Recently, when taking food from us, her head shakes. (Reminds me of someone with Parkinsons disease) Any ideas?

Definitely needs a vet check ASAP! Neurological symptoms can be caused by many things. One is metal toxicity poisoning. Not to mention some other very serious diseases. I recommend a vet check with an avian vet and blood work. Make sure they specifically test for Metal toxicity poisoning. Good luck.

I agree with GC 100% an urgent visit to a avian vet, is a MUST a.s.a.p.
We can read up on the internet, it could be this, it could be that.
There are so many different things to look out for. Rather let a Avian vet, who is qualified in this field, and will run different tests etc, making sure you get the best medical advise.
Please keep us updated, praying it is not serious.
