Hi there!

My name is Jessica and I have a 6 year old yellow crowned amazon named Shasta.

I acquired Shasta in a rescue type situation, she has a part of her beak missing from an accident she had straight out of the egg so she can be kind of a handful to feed. She has been rehomed 12 times in her short little life so when my mom asked me to take her I knew she would need a forever home and I am more then happy to provide it for her. I just love her to pieces and over the last 6 months she has begun to gain trust in every member of the family.

I have tons of questions and am looking forward to getting to know people in the community

RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
Welcome to you and Shasta! It takes a very special person to adopt a bird with challenges!

That is a new home on average of every six months! Amazing to see she is still capable of trust.

Thank you everyone for the warm welcome!

Once I heard Shasta's story I knew she belonged with me. I've been lucky to have worked with all different types of creatures who have needed a little saving. I just took my time with her and move at her pace. She still is leery with my husband but has no problem cuddling with me on the couch.

As far as her food preparation I honestly dont mind taking the extra few minutes a day to assure she has soft food to eat. Her diet consists of Harrison pellets that I moisten to a mash and a variety of the veggies, fruits and all kinds of soft goodies.

We love having her as a part of our family and look forward to the many years ahead ❤
