Comet, 4 year old sun conure
New to the forum as a member, but I've been poking around reading for a few years now.

I am a happy bird owner of a 4 year old sun conure, named Comet . He's a happy, friendly bird that thinks everyone he sees wants to touch him. Fully flighted, he really only spends time in his cage when he's sleeping or we are working. Or, if he's being a little snot and needs time out
We got him as a 4 month old baby and I love him to death. Although I think he likes the hubby more than me...

Hubby and I have 2 grandkids that visit often and we have learned that Comet has a mild obsession with children. Not sure why, but can't complain! My grandson is 6 next month and my granddaughter is 2 1/2.

I'm considering (Though I'm not sure Comet will like it much ) adding a bird...I'll be posting my questions soon!

RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
Welcome to you and Comet! He seems unusually well adjusted, in part due to his great freedom. Sounds like an avian goodwill ambassador to your grandchildren!

As far as a second bird is concerned, do so for you and your family, not as companion to Comet. Some birds adore company, others loathe an interloper! More details if you wish!

I've posted about a second bird, he definitely wouldn't be for Comet or me, he would be a rescue of sorts, and I'm pretty sure Comet wouldn't take well to sharing his time. Comet's rarely in the cage if I'm home, and he will willingly snuggle and get attention from anyone that won't swat him away or run screaming :) Its funny to me how scared some people are and I have to remember to be careful because not everybody loves a bird!

Welcome. Glad you joined and Comet be sounds like a gem! As I type my two Quakers and my GCC are hanging off my fingers or on my shoulder. Penny who I added ad a rescue two months ago is not really accepted into the flock .....yet! But they can all hang out on me. She just can't eat with them and won't let them touch her. But we have been making progres play ! Also beware a new addition will likely make your sun louder and the two will play off each other and be louder. At least that's what happened to me. I can't wait to see what you pick. :)

Welcome to you! Remember to bring a new bird into the home, Comet is always supposed to be first!

Oh yes! Comet is my baby. I never had any intentions on getting a second bird, I feel like he's so perfect for us - why ruin it! :) Comet loves most people, doesn't attack my dogs, and loves to travel with us. We've even built him a cage in our RV so when we go out of town he can go with!

However, I can't stand the thought of my MIL's bird going to a complete stranger after suddenly loosing his bonded human. So I am willing to try. Maybe I'll get lucky and he'll bond to my hubby. Now, how I'll build something big enough for Spooky to travel I haven't figured out yet, but one thing at a time!
