We brought Thor home yesterday. He's a two year old Quaker that were rehoming.

So far things are going well. He's been spending time out of his cage and stepping up with everyone.

Infact he said his first phrase for us just a few hours ago.

Thanks.

Welcome! Quakers are such amazing birds, and you must be doing something right if he’s already busting out phrases. What did he say?

He's our first bird. We were told he was bought by someone, who also got another quaker to keep him company. This person was going over seas and the mother couldn't keep the birds.

We thought about getting both, but were told not to get a pet for a pet. We thought they had grown up together and were concerned over separation anxiety. The breeder, not sure if they breed Thor, said it wasn't a concern, and not to get the other as a companion for Thor.

In the end, it was the correct decisions. We never heard Thor speak at the store, but he said his first phrase today, and one my wife has been repeating to him!

Nice! They learn words and phrases VERY quickly. Side note-Watch what you say because they don’t care if that’s a “grown-up word” or not [emoji23]

Quakers are quite capable of assimilating "grown up words" and using them to great affect!

Yeah, that could be tough. We don't have kids, so we've never worried about what we say. :)
