Hi All, I am new to this forum and hope to learn from everyone here and hope that perhaps I can share something useful to someone else.

Our normal GCC was a large part of our family for over 21 years, unfortunately Einnybird flew to the Rainbow Bridge two weeks ago.

I felt like I wanted to follow him there as my heart is broken. So miss the welcome home chirps when I arrive home each night from work and just him being here. It is so very hard.

So, now I am searching for another GCC to fill the void in my heart he left, but not to replace him as that could/would never happen. He will live in my heart forever and I will never forget him.

Looking forward to meeting all of you here and just being somewhere that folds understand "he wasn't JUST a bird".

Welcome! So sorry to hear about your recent loss of Einnybird....it sounds like he was well loved. It’s so very difficult to lose a family member, and I’m glad to hear you’ll be sharing your love with another GCC one of these days.

Welcome aboard! I have a GCC-shaped hole in my heart too, they sure are very special aren’t they?

RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
My deepest condolences for the passing of Einnybird. Many of us have lost precious companions and know the grieving process is deep and long. You are in good company.

Welcome to the community! I'm sorry that it's under such heartbreaking circumstances, and I'm so sorry that you lost your little baby...Green Cheeks absolutely have a way of making their way into a very special place in you heart, that's for sure. I have a Senegal, a Quaker, a Cockatiel, and 8 English/American Budgie hybrids, but my male Green Cheek, Bowie (who is turning 3 next month), for whatever reason, definitely is the love of my life. I love all of them so much, they are literally my children (I couldn't have human children), and I'd do anything for any one of them, but Bowie is just something special, I don't know why, but our bond is just different...I can't imagine losing him. Every time I hear a story about someone losing their Green Cheek from old age, an accident, an illness, from them accidentally getting loose and flying away, etc., I actually get a feeling of anxiety and fear....And then I go and check on him to make sure he's okay, lol...Little buggers just wrap you around their little toe and OWN YOU! lol...

Good luck in finding yourself a new little baby to add to your family, and if you have any questions about anything don't even hesitate to ask...And no, you'll never replace Einnybird, that's certainly never the reason to bring home a new baby into your life and family...But a home with a parrot in it is a happier home!!!!

Oh I’m so sorry for your loss. Many of us have experienced this as well. We don’t replace the ones we lose, we simply are used to the rhythm of having a feathered family member.

I also love GCCs! I’m sure the right one will cross your path at the right time. We love pictures here!
