Hello, I run a F Body Forum, ( camaro & Firebirds) , and has always had pet birds too, so the screen name is from either, lol I took a break after my last cockatiel left me, a friend does a bird rescue, Lucky a Blind Quaker was meant to be for us it looked like, lol. He’s 95% blind from diet we think. He’s a great bird, there are a few issues I’ll discuss that maybe I can figure out :green:

Lucky is around 10-12 years old, I really didn’t want to commit to another bird, I lost my ‘ tiels, one at 15 years, one at 21, both were adopted, one was found outside. And both were grown when I got them. So add a few years on to what I had them.
After a month of my daughter saying, let’s get lucky, I went and looked at him. The cage was so filthy it couldn’t have been washed in over 2 years I’m thinking. I didn’t want it, nor did he go back in, his bed was just filthy. I soaked the cage outside for a day and sold it, it was a nice heavy cage. His home was with many cats and dogs. He never wot any quiet sleep, now he kinda gets panicky around 5 pm to go to bed. He has his own dark quit room. He loves it. He does a bark like a dog still. Lol
He doesn’t bite or pick, which is great, but the one problem that Has he will start to vomit and the last time was very sick. Through the night he will throw up 5-6 times. I do have a great avian vet, we just can’t figure it out. A friend says she knows of a Quaker that picked the polyester fuzz of her bed and was sick all the time. I don’t think he’s doing that. I do give him a small pc of bread as a treat. Can it be this? Other than that he’s on a good diet. No junk food. I just don’t know. He doesn’t come out of his cage much on his own being blind, just lately he goes on top, but seems to get stuck up there, I have to show him the door to his cage.

Possibly because he’s blind, he loves to be wrapped up in a washcloth, lol. I guess it reminds him of his bed. He will hang out in there on one foot. Lol.

Welcome to you and Lucky...bird rescuers are a 'special breed' in my book!

I'm new at parronting and have received solid advice from this community. I'm sure you will as well.

We were thinking of a new name, new start, new name, then one afternoon he said lucky bird a half a dozen times. So lucky it is. Lol. Like Tom Pettys said, he got lucky I found him. Lol
