Hello! Brand new mom of a 16-year-old:09::green1: Red Front Conure! Lot's to learn, but she loves me already! Eating apples from my hand and sat already on my shoulder 1x. I have a little Honey Budgie, that is across the room from my Shaku, trying to introduce them at a distant, any advice? I take turns letting them out and give each one equal attention, is this a good idea? Thank you Admins for this wonderful website very fortunate to find I"ve had my Red Front Conure for 5 days given to me on July 4th Independence Day here in the Pacific Northwest I told the owner what a most wonderful early birthday present! LOL!

Welcome to you and your flock! Hope you’ll share some pictures with us :). My only advice would be to take your time, let your new flock member settle in before you introduce to your other bird. Distance is probably good for now, they can get used to each other’s presence. You are on the right track, making sure that they both get attention and I’d probably continue this for awhile. When there is a size difference between birds, you’ll want to be very careful and supervise closely if/when you let them interact. Looking forward to hearing more and hopefully seeing some pictures!

Welcome to you and your flock! Your RFC is acclimating to a new environment, so please take your time socializing, particularly with a smaller budgie.

Welcome to you and yours! Thanks for the great intro. Apples are popular with my flock too, you may already know but apple seeds can be toxic to parrots, the flesh and peel is fine but stay away from the core and seeds. As mentioned a difference in size can be dangerous for the smaller bird, especially during those initial first introductions. You never know how two birds will get along so closely supervise when they are out together. Have fun with your newest family member.

No pressure but we really do love photos.
