RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
A warm welcome to you, Bertie, and Orville!!

A number of factors may be at play in your situation. I'll leave it to our resident Ringneck experts to give expert advice. Some of the behaviors may be species specific.

If you don't get many responses, might post a new thread in the Indian Ringneck forum, or PM me and I can move this to that location. (if you make a new one, please don't make it identical; change the words a bit to avoid "duplicate posting.")

Hi welcome. Did you get the male with hopes of breeding them?
I don't know anything about setting up breeding pairs, except they make their own choices. And that having a male doesn't mean that's the male she will choose.
If you got him just to be freinds, just slow everything down. Work on bonding with each on their own. Your girl might need extra attention from you. To make her feel secure and not act out against the male. They my grow to be better friends, or learn to tolerate each other but not be buddies. Good luck early days yet

Welcome to the forum Angie55. I agree with Scott in that moving this thread to the IRN section may get better results. Just write a note in here and one of the Mod's can move it for you.

You have had Bertie (female) for a couple of years and have introduced a new (male) flock member. If Bertie is anything like my Ellie then she has seriously bonded with you which may elicit aggression towards any new flock member. Ensure that you continue to spend the same quality time with Bertie as you did pre-Orville. Also have separate bonding time for Orville to welcome him into the flock. Observe interactions between Bertie and Orville. I do not permit Ellie and Bertie physical contact due to the 'newness' of their relationship. My personal choice.

The mating scenario is a whole new kettle of fish and a specific focus for discussion. Female aggression toward the male (during mating) is normal with Eclectus and potentially lethal for the male. If you move this thread to IRN's then those experts may have some advice if your intent is to breed.
