Hi
My name is Sophie and I have been after a pineapple conure for a while, my partner came home with one for me Sunday, he/she is only 4 months old and I just want to gather some help and support regarding taming ect, since I put him/her in there cage they’ve not muttered a sound, didn’t try to bite me either when moved to cage and just seems very relaxed and chilled out. I’m just looking for reassurance that they are able to tame

Welcome to you and your new addition! Lots of conure people here - feel free to ask as many questions as you have :). Your baby is really new to your house and is settling in, so this is the perfect time to start building a trusting relationship with him or her. I’ve included a thread that might have some useful tips in it. I have 2 pineapple GCCs myself and just would encourage you to take your time and take your cues from your bird about how and when to interact.

Welcome!
You're already getting good advice, see? :)

Here are some ideas I usually offer to newcomers...

General Parrot Information - Parrot Forum - Parrot Owner's Community

Most of us swear by our avian vets in the event of health concerns.
Certified Avian Vets

If none are near you...

In my opinion, any of the vets listed here should be better than a regular vet.
International contacts, too.

What's the diet? That's critical for health. Too many are kept on seeds or other poor-nutrition things. They need veggies, legumes, grains... pellets are a good staple. Here's what I use.

I feed Harrison's, supplemented by fresh healthy treats. My first, and later, my current avian vet recommended it. My bird loves the pellets now, but to get him converted, my avian vet suggested putting pellets out all day, and putting seeds (his old diet) out for two 15-minute periods a day. That would sustain him but leave him hungry enough to try new stuff. I presume the same technique could be used to get him to eat other healthy stuff, like fruits and vegetables! My guy was eating pellets in a couple of days, and now I can feed a good variety of other stuff, knowing he has the pellets as a basic. Pellets are out all day... fresh treats a few times a day. I also like Harrison's via mail because I never have to worry about out-of-date products.

Since you're new parront, I'll just drop a note about avoiding teflon pans, which are lethal to birds if even slightly overheated.

I'm glad you're here. Lots to learn and share and enjoy!

Here are a couple of my favorite links with great Info

https://lafeber.com/pet-birds/bird-behavior/

And this one covers a lot too
https://lafeber.com/pet-birds/stress-reduction-for-parrot-companions/

I just found this article and I think it's helpful. We have so many people starting out for the first time with parrots. And every parrot keeper gas been there to. This one talks about how parrots differ from other pets. They see us as equal flock mates. There is no top dog..

If all of the above only wetted your appetite for more links on parrot behavior and making friends with birds and fearful birds. Then check out my ornithology thread , I added a bunch on the last page. Otherwise the thread is devoted to science articles. ;)
