Hello All,

I live in New Zealand and I have a very good natured 8 year old sulfur crested cockatoo called Triss, she might scream once or twice a day for maybe two minutes total but apart from that is a very quiet bird. She doesn't bite which is great ( I trained her not too ) and is brilliant when it comes to trying new foods. Her favorates at the moment are Jelepenio peppers ( no seeds of course ) and warmed apple and apricot with cinimon - yes she is spoilt :)

I have also had dealings with Gallahs as my Ex wife had one which unfortunately she had to give up at two years old as she has a physical disability and very weak skin and never managed to break his biting habit even with stick training.

I am looking at in the New year getting an African Grey as well, my two birds will be housed in their own cages and have equal time out with me, I only have to work a few hours a day so can dedicate a lot of time to them and am looking forward to the new addition. I am however looking at changing the door mechs on the cage for the new babe to ones which can be locked so he can't get up to mischeif while I am at work as I know greys are hell of a smart.

Nice to meet you all and hope to be able to provide as much useful info to you as you can me with regard to our fethered companions.

Cheers.

Hello from Midwest USA! We have a few members from Australia so you'll hopefully be in luck with finding a grey to add to your flock.

I had the pleasure of visiting Australia (though not NZ sadly) back in 2009 on a Study abroad trip through college. It was AMAZING, I fell in love with the great barrier reef immediately. Spectacular sealife. I bet the weather is great this time of year, as it is summer, correct?

Welcome to the forums, stick around, there's members here from all over the globe!

Yes it's summer down here in NZ, bit of a mixed bag at the moment and do no what the weather will do from one moment to the next, we had a first for us here is Christchurch the other day and actually had a Tornado tear through and do some damage in a location called Sydenham, also had Hail the size of the larger variety of marbles, quite terrifying - since then though it's been 22 to 30.c on a steady basis. Although Triss does not mind the heat to much it does not do much for me.

Have seen several breeders here in New Zealand and have chosen one with a good reputation as not just being a breed them hard in it for the money type as I don't feel that bird breeding should be like puppy mills. If they want to mate they will and if they don't they wont. Live with it hooman.

Welcome to the forum!:D

I think you'll be able to find a lot of good info here. Also, when you figure out how, we'd love to see pictures of your 'too.

This is the last photo I took of my girl, she looks good in the pic, she is looking a bit antiquey at the moment because the local council have been chlorinating the water while they fix the well heads and I refuse to give her a shower while the CBP's are still in the water.

I've brought a purifier and am purifying her drinking water and occasionaly on warm days she enjoys a good sprits with a spray bottle but it's no substitute for an actual shower.

Triss is absolutely gorgeous! Hopefully, she'll be able to take a shower soon.
