Bebee - Blue and Gold Macaw,
Little Bird - Goffins Cockatoo,
Mica and Daffy, greatly missed
Hi! I recently adopted a Goffins cockatoo and have some questions about behavior which I think I'm supposed to post under species specific questions?
I adopted a Blue and Gold Macaw from my mother 6 years ago (he almost broke her finger). He's doing great, but he has some interesting behaviors I'll probably post more about in the future (like biting me and yelling "ow!"). He's approximately 26 years old.
I recently lost my beloved Timneh in August from squamous cell carcinoma. I had her for 26 years and can't begin to describe how much I miss her. Prior to that in June, my 28 year old indian ringneck parakeet passed away suddenly and unexpectedly. I couldn't bear to get a necropsy done knowing my grey was dying too. It was too much. The back to back losses just broke my heart.
So I unexpectedly had a chance to adopt a 10-12 year old Goffins. I had one many years ago who passed away from suspected PDD at 4 years old. I had a blast with him before he passed and always wanted another. I missed having a smaller bird and knew I could give another bird a great home so this seemed like the perfect opportunity. I look forward to being a part of your group :)

RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
Welcome to you and your Goffins + B&G. My deepest condolences for your losses of Timneh and IRN. I hope their bright memories comfort you.

Goffins are my absolute favorite species. I love my family of five; two parents and three tame offspring. Feel free to post specific questions in the Cockatoo and Macaw subforums for best responses!

Umbrella Cockatoo- 15? years old..I think?
There is a section on behavior if you want to ask questions about behavior. There is also one on cockatoos. At the end of the day, no one is going to care where you post, as long as you aren't making tons of cockatoo threads on a lorikeet page or something lol.

Welcome!
