Princess parrot
Hi. I'm new to this and I've I've recently gotten a baby princess parrot I've had him for about a month and a half he had been out of his best for 4 weeks when we got him. Have been hand feeding him. But in the last few days he has became very moody not wanting to be held or to be around us unless he is being feed he is normally always sitting on our shoulder or hand making noises and whistling at us. he has also started loosing tail feathers and growing new ones. Is this his first molt that I read about and is this change in behavior normal. How can I make him feel better thanks in advance

RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
Welcome to you and your young princess parrot!

Assuming he is a bit older than 2.5 months from your description? Are you able to pinpoint his exact age? Have not had weaning age birds for several decades so defer to those with recent experience.

Behavior may have something to do with weaning. How's his appetite and weight? (sensitive gram scale is one of the best home diagnostic tools)
