Hi!

I'm new to this forum and just thought I should introduce myself!

Among the other animals in the household, my little zoo contains one male CAG, Loki, and one male U2, Nemo. Loki is 4 years this Saturday and Nemo is 7 years old.

I've had Loki his whole life. He enjoys bossing everyone around, showing off, and praising himself. He is very outgoing and loves to be the centre of attention. He really likes grapes and carrots, but only if the carrots have been cut into thin strips. Another hobby of his is to drop these same carrot pieces onto the floor to feed the dogs. He's super confident and very inquisitive.

I've had Nemo for 2.5 months. He was rehomed twice before I got him, and his previous owners weren't the most knowledgable. I'm still getting to know him as he's very shy and reserved, and we're working on trust at the moment. He's coming out of his shell more and more every day, and I never thought I'd be so overjoyed to hear a bird scream lol. He would do anything for a tangerine slice or a dried banana chip. He quite likes the occasional walnut too. When he came to live with me, he didn't know what a walnut was. He spent a literal 30 minutes trying to crack it open. Every time he broke a piece off, he turned his head to examine the inside. Now he can crack it open in about 3 seconds. He really loves dogs and can bark like one.

Nemo and Loki are polar opposites in almost every way, down to the colours they prefer. Loki likes red and orange and doesn't really like blue or green, and Nemo likes blue and hates red. Loki is very welcoming of Nemo, he's always saying 'Nemo Nemo wooo wooo!!'. When we brought Nemo home, Loki very quickly learned to say 'Loki likes Nemo'. He thinks Nemo is very entertaining, and loves when he puts his crest up and acts 'dramatic'. Nemo likes Loki's talking and often says 'yeah!' in reply to Loki. I think he likes the company, and seeing Loki so relaxed maybe helps him to feel a little more comfortable. When I go downstairs, I often hear them chattering away to each other. I think their personalities compliment each other well.

That's enough rambling about my birds! How has everyone here been and what birds do people have?

Welcome welcome!

Oh my goodness your descriptions of your boys are just SO CUTE!! I have to admit I am very very jealous. My CAG Trigger and my GCC Yoda do NOT get along one bit. I wish they would co-exist as nicely as it sounds like Loki and Nemo are.

Still, I should think more about what I have and what I'm grateful for, then to dwell on things I wish I had. I'm just lucky to have two healthy, happy little dudes.... Trigger is so funny, he says new things every day and never fails to make us laugh with the stuff he does. He loves to say (sing) his name and do this little dance that just makes me crack up every time. He also seems to think he is a conure, he likes to dangle and climb and play and clown around. Yoda of course is a total clown also, whenever we start laughing he must immediately start hopping and dancing around as he laughs and tries to make us laugh more. So... there's a lot of laughing around here, and that's just the greatest thing. :)

Anyhoo, welcome to the PF Family!

Welcome to you, Loki and Nemo! They sound like a blast :)

I have 6 birds in my flock - all came to me as adults. Baby and Tango (sun & gcc) came to me as a bonded pair. Bindi (sun) is my dancing snuggle clown and came from the rescue that I volunteer at. Screamer (cockatiel) is my diva and and likes to pretend that there are no other birds in the house. Stanley (gcc) was a vicious biter who was being given away because of his bad habit of chewing on peoples’ faces. He’s my sweetheart now :). Mr Tee (gcc) also followed me home from the rescue with a horrible fear of hands. We’re making good progress on that and he’s turning into quite the little chatterbox.

Looking forward to hearing more about your pair!

Welcome! Best into ever! And I love seeing everyone introducing their birds as some of the stories I haven't heard yet! :)

My current GCC Ta-dah lost her freind of five years, Burt the Bird who I had for 17 years. She was very very sad, as was I, so I decided to get a Quaker. That was Neptune my blue Quaker I got as a baby, out shopping for bird stuff, I ran into a Quaker being re-homed who was covered in poop and in a tiny tiny cage that she couldn't stand up in, that Penny my green Quaker , ac u couldn't leave her there!!! Someone moving have me two male budgie Cloudy and Clear, then someone's had to re-home their parrots, and I took in my lutino Quaker Pikachu. Neptune and Pikachu can laugh, and that is so fun. Penny has come aong way and can even fly now, because I always cheer and say good girl when she flys, so does Neptune cheers her too. Neptune bonded with Ta-dah, but all the other birds just tolerate eachother, but early on there was a lot of fights.

Bebee - Blue and Gold Macaw,
Little Bird - Goffins Cockatoo,
Mica and Daffy, greatly missed
Hi and welcome! Your descriptions are great, what fun! I have a 26 B&G macaw, Bebee, I took him in about 6 years ago and I recently adopted a 10-12 year old Goffins cockatoo, Little Bird. Bebee says buh-bye when we leave and gahgahgah for goodnight. He makes lots of noises and grumbles and yummy noises when he eats something particularly good. I'm still getting to know Little Bird, but he does like to dance!

Enzo - adopted Female CAG circa 2004. A truly amazing young lady!
He really likes grapes and carrots, but only if the carrots have been cut into thin strips.

Haha, my CAG is exaclty the same, but she likes round thin carrot slices and she chews them and moves them around in her beak, if i cut the carrot into strips she will just pick them out of her bowl and drop them on the floor.

Welcome!
