Rock Pebbler/ Regent Parrot
Hi Everyone,

So my first Parrot after 12 years ago of owning an African Grey I rescued.
Really looking forward to learning more about Parrots. I have just got a 16 week old Rock Pebbler/ Regent Parrot. We collected him Saturday and just trying to get him settled in, he has a great character and my twins have named him Reggie (no idea where they got that from 😁 as the other twin wanted Ronnie).
Finding it quite hard to find info on him as seem quite rare so would be great if there are any other owners of these parrots on here that I could find out more from.
No doubt I will be posting more about Reggie's progress and look forward to reading the posts on here.
Many Thanks Kee

Welcome and be welcomed. I think we have a few Rockie parronts on here, but yeah, they are rare. I strongly suggest you and the family read the "I love Amazons" thread over in the Amazon subforum. It contains much information that is applicable to all parrots, not just Amazons. Feeding, cages, health, and much much more, it was penned by one of our senior members, a trusted one.

Much has changed in the 12 years since you had your African Grey, better understanding of the physiology, psychology and care of parrots, so I am sure you and the family will find a lot of very useful information.

Thanks all, for the welcome, much appreciated.
Yeah, my twin boys are fascinated by other twins and seems the Krays are their favourites right now
I lived out in spain when we rescued George an African grey from a pet shop out there. He was in a tiny cage, a poo mountain up to his bum and no feathers one side, plus their way of keeping him quiet was bang the cage with a broom.. cost me £400 but we got him out, plus almost coming to blows with shop keeper.
To say George was wild was an understatement but rightly so. I had an accident and have a spinal cord injury, so I spent many hours sitting with him, talking, trying to tame him. Eventually after 2 months, his feathers started coming back and he was feeding from my hand plus he was copying my sounds and finally looked happy. Unfortunately from the abuse he got at the shop he developed seizures and I would have to nurse him through these once he had one... Long story short, after 6 months he was out of the cage and coming up to me, such a happy bird..but one night he had a huge seizure and didn't pull through...broke my heart.
I like to think I gave him the best 6 months he could have had. I think both being a bit broken at the time we bonded so much and it had taken me till now to own another parrot.
So now I have Reggie, this time a baby to rear and already bonding well. Proper little character.
Thanks again for the welcome, much appreciated.
