Good morning / afternoon to everyone on ParrotForums!

I don’t have a feathered friend yet but am really looking forward to when I do.

I’ve spent a couple of months researching and preparing for the day I finally take the plunge and have bought cages, loads of varied toys, many perches of various sizes and most things that are required, including Vetark AviPro Avian Prebiotic and Probiotic Supplement.

All that’s left (I think!) is to buy feed, a bird carrier and play station to build or buy - so I am feeling more confident about being properly prepared ...... However, any advice you can think of for someone about to get their first parrot would be really appreciated.

I’ve joined a few Parrot Chat/Support Groups and am really enjoying reading the wealth of knowledge and advice being given plus photos of cages/play area designs - I’ve already seen lots of clever ideas and wonderful structures made with the most unlikely of equipment!

Unfortunately, there seems to be only 1 or 2 Local Council registered bird breeders/sellers in the East Midlands, UK (and without any actual hands-on knowledge or experience I won’t buy from random people selling). This means my options are probably much more limited than other countries represented here on Parrot Forums.

So, I’ve decided to buy a baby Blue Front / Fronted Amazon and would really appreciate anyone’s thoughts and advice about this breed ...

I have read that there is a separate thread for the Blue Front / Fronted Amazon but do not know how to find it - if anyone could help me with that, that’d be great.

Thanks everyone
LuLu

Welcome to the forum!

I don't know anything about Amazons since I've only ever kept 'tiels but we have members that keep Amazons and I'm sure they'll chime in soon!

As for finding the forum for Amazons; head on up to the top of the page. There, underneath the banner, you'll see some links to different parts of the website. Click "forums". From there, scroll down to the "Species Specific" section and you'll se Amazons right at the top.

Hope that helped!

I wish you luck with your future bird

Amy a Blue Front 'Zon
Jonesy a Goffins 'Too who had to be rehomed :-(

And a Normal Grey Cockatiel named BB who came home with me on 5/20/2016.
Welcome to the BEST darn parrot forum on the innerweb!:18:

I am an "Amazon Snob" myself. Amy is a thirty year old Blue Front that has been with me since HE was four months old. I say "he" because it took me twenty-five years to have a dna test done  I always assumed he was a she lol. Too late now to rename him...he knows his name..what would I call him? Amos?? lmbo :p
As others mentioned, just go to the top of the page and click on "forums" and scroll down. You'll see all the different flavors of birdies..Amazon will be at the top. Amazon includes all flavors of 'zon's..be it blue front's or yellow napes or double yellow head etc.

You'll love this place. Awesome people here with a vast wealth of knowledge and just about every kind of birdie you can imagine.

Again...WELCOME!!! :60:
