Black-capped conures
Hello everyone!

Longtime conure owner here—our 20 year old black caps, Kiwi and Tiki, have been our pride and joy for many wonderful years. In the last several years we've discovered the amazing benefits of trick training and have recently completed a free flight course that has totally transformed our relationship with our birds.

This year we are planning on adding two new members to our flock and are happy to join this parrot forum to learn more from other member's experience. Thanks in advance for all your help!

Macaws can be very long lived Parrots. There is great value in considering an Adult Macaw as an Adult you clearly get what you see and most important, you can allow an Adult to choose you! Parrots are much better at choosing.

As a group, Macaws tend to be very loud and many loss their home because there commonly place the owners into legal issues with neighbors, whether stand alone home or an apartment. It is an important point to remember.

Free flight in the great outdoors is a wondrous thing to behold. But as you know, it is dangerous as our Skys are becoming ever more filled with hunting birds. We live in the center of five Red Tail Hawk family and the pressure to keep all of them feed is high.

Macaws can be truly loving Parrots If you can find it in your hearts to allow a couple to choose you you are just that much further ahead.

Welcome to Parrot Forum.

Welcome!

IMHO There is nothing like trick training to really cement a bond with your parrot and discover how truly smart they are. After a while, they come to sessions ready to learn and may pick up even difficult tricks in 1 or 2 tries. My Salty is like that. Right now we are working on him balancing on top of a rolling cylinder and playing a game of Jenga ( not at the same time - that really would be a great trick though!).
