I get up at 5am.... but this morning I overslept (by over an hour). At about 6am I wake to banging on my door... I answer to see my neighbor he looks at me angrily and say's "your horses are loose and running down the road".

I should have known.... The dogs have a fenced in yard portion in the back and they keep digging, so I ran electric fencing along the bottom (since I will be gone a few days and they are more likely to be upset due to lonliness)... well I tied the fence into the horses north pasture hot wire... the dogs grounded the fence, and the silly mustang I own decided that she was going for a run. The other 3 horses never left (just stuffed their faces), but the Mustang (Saukura) decided she wanted to meet the neighbors horses. (I honestly think she's in heat, and the neighbors have a fugly stallion...)

Well I get the horses home (I whistled and called her name and she came running to me), lock them in the corral and re do all the north fence (I used another electric fencer and separated the dogs wire from the horses wire).

I am now totally behind by 7am and every other animal is cranky (they are so used to a tight schedule)....

I am now really tired and sincerely hoping that the silly horses will stay put now :) On a good day everything runs smoothly.... on a bad day it's like the animals have it out for me...lol :)

Scared me to death... I would not know what to do if my horses got hurt... I'd be sick. So tomorrow it's to the farm store for t posts and horse wire... I need a safer fence. And a more reliable solution for good.

One escape is one too many :(

Sick feeling hearing hoof beats going past your window. Been there, done that. Animals are a trial, but they are a gift too.

My filly is a total escape artist. She can and will get out of anything. I swear she laughs every time.
