This last Sunday my mom and I were walking around from the front door to the carport to go to the store weh all of a sudden Raven (our 6 month old Min Pin- the black one) was yelping. I ran into the back yard and picked her up and she was rubbing her mouth and blood was coming out. I called my brother to help me look inside her mouth (It is really his assist dog) She stopped yelping and bleeding. We thought she just lost a tooth- she doesn't like it when they come out. She was a little swollen, but it went away. We gave her some pain meds she had from being spayed, and she seemed alright. She would play and eat & drink like normal. Today she finally let my brother look in her mouth & he saw a sticker in her mouth so we took her to the vet. They sedated her and pulled it out, but then they call us to tell us her jaw is broken! aahhhh! I can't believe it- I feel soooo bad- I had no idea. I should have forced my brother to take her to the vet! They will have to do surgery maybe- but that will cost hundreds to thousands of dollars. Now my brother says if we can't afford it we will have to put her down. I refuse to let him do that! I don't know what to do. I've been crying at work all morning! He needs that little pup- my brother is terminally ill, and I know he doesn't mean what he says. What to do? I can't believe it! I really love that puppy too. :17:

hey I'm sooo sorry animals are very good at hiding things wrong with them - that's how they survive in the wild. On a side note think of fund raisers you can do and get the word out to raise money for the surgery - I've heard of these being very successful.

Speak to some of the charity groups in your area.
Let the local paper know of your plight.
People are basicly good and will not allow you brother to out live your puppy.
Talk to the vet and explain the situation. I sure he will trim the bill where he can. Let us know how you go.

Thanks yu guys. I had a dream last night that we had a car wash for her -lol. The vet seems to think that it might heel without surgery. She goes back to the vet in 2 weeks for x-rays, and then we will know for sure. She looks sooo sad. Here is a pic of our poor pup. (click on it for a lager view)

Update :D Well, Raven broke one side of her bottom jaw completely, and cracked the other side in the same place :( But, the good news is she doesn't have to have surgery. she is in a muzzle cast. It has to be changed every 2 weeks, which costs us $140.00 each time, then new xrays in 6 weeks. So we are saving for that. So far she is heeling well, but she is still so pitiful looking and sad looking :( We still ahve no idea how she did it. We think that as she was losing a tooth, she bit down on a big bone we had for the big dog in the back yard and broke it. Wish I new for sure though.

I will - thanks :) Somehow she got off my brothers bed in the middle of the night, locked herself in the bathroom, and got the muzzle cast off  We were able to put it back on without an issue. She goes in to the vet tomorrow for a checkup. Hope all is well. We started giving her a rice meal suppliment with minerals because she is losing alot of weight. She looks like a skeleton. She eats 3 times a day and still loses weight. Hopefully this will work. Thanks again :)

Good news :) Ravens vet visit went well. The vet said she is healing really good. Her wait is the same it was last time, so I'm thinking we started giving her the suppliment just in time. What was really nice is the vet let us go to petsmart to by a muzzle with holes in it. She put that on instead of the one they would. Wich cost us only 6 bucks- and theywill always use it! So, she still looks pitiful and sad, but, getting better everyday. She goes for x-rays in one month. I'll keep updating as she progresses :D Thanks

Raven is doing ok. She goes to the vet next weekend for xrays. The thing is that she is eating a whole lot- 3 times a day, more then before she broke her jaw, and she is losing a lot of weight! She is literally skin and bone. You can see every bone in her little body. She just finished her last antibiotic today. Could that be making her lose weight? We are really worried about her. I think that it is because we have to mash the food so much for her. She pees and Poops just fine. I hope she lasts for the next week! :( She's still really hyper too.

Hope Raven's x rays look good!! I would think her being hyper would be a good thing, aren't they normally a very hyper breed of dogs? Just from seeing them and reading about them they sound kind of crazy like my Jack Russell Terriers, Ben & Jerry.
Anyways, good luck!!!

Good news! Raven's all healed up. We finaly got to take that muzzle off. She lost her hair under her eyes from it, but it is starting to grow back. We took her for her first walk today since she broke her jaw. She's doing so good. :D

very glad to hear the good news about Raven ... :D

Thanks :) We are being extra causious to make sure she doesn't break it again- since we have no idea how she did it in the first place.

She was probably playing too hard ... those kinds of things can happen, there was no ill intent, accidents just happen ... and are more likely to happen again if you are hyper-cautious ... let Raven be herself and don't try to make her slow down any ... :D
