Now I'm miffed! You've DARED to withhold THAT precious face from me for over a week? :(

Of course I'm kidding....am I??? Yes, I am. I know how busy you've been with GORGEOUS, sweet, cute, adorable, lovable Mia...but GOOOSH, I wish you would have posted earlier for me to drool to my heart's content. :D

Girls are so much fun to housebreak, aren't they? :54: Especially when they were pretty much never trained for 6 months....

I actually prefer the little folded envelope ears (natural) than the cropped ears in the schnauzer I think it makes them look so cute, the cropped ears give them more of a "sharp" look imo.:) Her face always looks like that...goofy and adorable!

Oh that's right, I completely forgot that Schnauzers are usually cropped. I think these days it's more popular to leave ears natural, but I tell you... I REALLY love the look of Dobermans when cropped. They just don't have that same sharp look without it IMHO.

I agree 100% when I was younger I raised and had Doberman's and as much as I hated it I did crop ears with them. They look like hunting dogs un-cropped and while I have nothing against hunting dogs that is not how I wanted them to look. I also went with the longer show cut ears and it was a long process to get them to stand correctly but once they did WOW!

She is cute. I love her face and love the floppy ears. I am starting to see more uncropped ears. My aunt has a Schnauzer but his ears are cropped.

Yes, Dobermans just look more sharp with the cropped ears. I know some people think cropped ears are cruel but when you compare it to Central Asian Shepherds getting their ears cut off it seems not as bad.

The reason it is viewed is because when you crop a dogs ears you are cutting along the nerves cause the dog to be in pain for weeks.

Oh my god, is it still legal in the US to disfigure and mutilate animals like that?!? :O

(Ear cropping and tail docking and all that, I meant. Mia is ADORABLE, though!) :)

Yes, I'm aware it's illegal in UK and most of Europe. Thought it's not illegal here, it seems to be done less and less these days. I never see boxers or pits with ears cropped anymore. Many people in the US will also say it's cruel and disfiguring. Hypothetically, if I had a Doberman puppy, I'd just have to get it done though! :11:

While I would rather not have this thread end up being pro or con cropping I will say that with her I really made my decision based on a few things. I feel she is too old at 6 months to do it, I love the way she looks now and since I have no plans to show her I felt it was better to leave them as is.

She also is behind in development. The breeder was in it for the money as most breeders are. For whatever reason Mia didn't sell as fast as her litter mates and when I got her she had just turned 6 months. He had not done ANY training with her. Not house training or even simple obedience! How hard is it to train "sit" for cryin out loud!

She didn't know what a treat was and wouldn't take one from your hand, she didn't play with toys and really didn't seem to understand what they were! She has come a LONG way since she has come to live with me, the only thing that concerns me a little is in less than 24 hrs she became completely in love and dependent with me. She will follow me where ever I go, cries and looks for me when I leave according to my husband and would rather not have anyone else too close to me. So we are working on this, getting her around other people and me leaving her for a few hours and not making it a big deal when I come home. At first when I came home she would cry and whine pitifully, very excited to see me. I did the wrong thing at first by comforting which seemed to make it worse. Now when I come home I ignore her until she is calm and that seems to have done the trick. She now seems to understand that I will be back and she doesn't need to get so upset.
